Vision Mission & Values
The things we hold most dear are our employees, our customers, our suppliers, the environment, our neighbours, our country, the market, honesty and profit to thrive.
Our people and their determination form the cornerstone of our success.
Our company was formed through a management buy-out in April 1999 and it is now owned, managed and run mostly by people who have worked within it for, sometimes, all of their working lives and in others for the greater part of their working lives. These people care very much about staying in business, they know that requires customers who want us as a supplier, suppliers who want us as a customer and they know that to thrive they have to work very hard every day and that the devil is in the detail!
We really do care about the environment and health and safety and we do far more than the minimum legally required of us so that we can continue to be proud of our corporate record.
We want the markets in which we work to hold us in the highest esteem, to respect us and to support us and to do this we want to be known for our honesty, our serious approach to work and our dedication to serving our customers, suppliers, the public, shareholders and employees.
We want everyone in our company to be constantly aware that our customers can choose an alternative supplier and that to keep them all of us must, without fail, do our very best to exceed all of their expectations. This is a tall order and no employee will ever be criticised for reminding us of the never-ending need to satisfy our customers.
We want to provide all of our employees with adequate and fair compensation, safe working conditions, stable employment, challenging work, opportunities for personal development, and a satisfying quality of work life.
We also want to provide our suppliers with continuing, if not expanding, sources of business, and with incentives to improve their products and services and their use through research and development.
If you work for, buy from, supply or live next door to National Hickman we want you to be able to rely upon our behavioural standards and strength of character.
It is these values that bind us as an organisation and it is why we have so many long serving and experienced employees, why so many young talented people join the workforce every year and why all of our critical business relationships are long-term.
