Handling storage & installation
Fibercill MDF mouldings are easily worked using conventional woodworking tools, and excellent results can be achieved due to the consistency and high density of the fibres. Fibercill MDF products are easily cross-cut, trimmed, scribed or mitred, and can be both nailed and/or glued. The consistently smooth surfaces provide an excellent substrate for a paint finish.
Storage & Handling
As a primed internal joinery product, manufactured to precise moisture contents appropriate for internal use, good practice in storage and installation is essential for best results. All products should be carefully stored under cover and never exposed to excessive wetting. Keep flat at all times. DO NOT store in unventilated containers.
Nailing
To ‘Aircrete’ or light aggregate block work, galvanized lost head or helical nails are recommended for best results. To timber studs and linings, lost head oval nails are recommended. Use of compressed air nail guns will give excellent results, minimizing filling to nail holes. Architraves should not be cross nailed on the mitre. All nail heads should be punched home and filled using a quality non-water based filler.
Gluing
Fibercill products may be glued using a proprietary high performance adhesive. Care should be taken to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for application on porous and damp surfaces.
Finishing
Fibercill MDF Mouldings are Supplied with a factory applied two-coat primer system, and are ready to be finished with conventional undercoat, followed by a top coat using either standard polyurethane, alkyl or acrylic paints. Crosscut ends of Windowboards must be sealed using a proprietary oil based primer. If for any reason the factory applied primer is removed or damaged, all products should be re-sealed as above.
